Figures and Still life

A Rose Among Roses
soft pastels on pastel paper, 21h x 16wI was fortunate to visit Monet's gardens on a family vacation. As my daughter was looking at the beautiful roses, she became an integral part of the garden scenery.
Still Life with Flowers
soft pastels on blsoft pastels on pastel paper, 14h x 11wIn this still life painting, I combined bold color and shapes that are almost abstract with realistic points of reference. The result is a space that is both recognizable and new.
Still Life with Bottle
acrylics on canvas, 20h x 16w I painted this still life at a workshop held at the Denver Museum of Art. I forgot to bring supplies. Luckily other particiants gave me a canvas sheet and swabs of paint.
He Came In Peace
oil on canvas, 20h x 16wHere the dignified chief sits on plains surrounded by wildlife. He looks at the viewer as if to question what lies ahead for him and his land.
Still Life with Cactuses
oil on canvas, 11h x 14w While visiting my daughter, I took some classes at the Scottsdale Artists School. Instead of painting flowers in a vase, I preferred the AZ cactuses in my surroundings.
Saguaro Hills
acrylics on canvas, 14h x 11wThis painting was inspired by a hike I took in the hills around Scottsdale among the towering saguro cactuses. The desert there has an untamed beauty of its own.
My Cowboy
soft pastels on pastel paper, 16.5h x 12.5wI captured this image of my husband in his Western riding gear as he was headed back to the barn after a long ride.
Rodeo Cowgirl soft pastels on pastel paper, 14h x 11w Our town puts on a yearly rodeo. I am drawn to the pagentry and raw emotions on parade. Here the cowgirl charges around barrels with grit as the cowboys wait their turn.
Jumping Into the Future
oil, 20h x 16wCommission of a wedding in Telluride for a family member. The majestic mountains set the stage for the happy couple as they jump together into their future (their reference photo).
That Kiss
oil, 16h x 20w Another painting I did at the Scottsdale Artists School (instructor's reference photo). The lovers melt into each other as the rest of the world fades into the background.
